All 46 people at one clinic in San Francisco, in the United States, who were given a mix of long-lasting HIV injections reached and kept control of the virus, a new report has found.

Many of them had found daily pills hard to take.

The short research letter was published on 8 October 2026 in JAMA Network Open, a medical journal.

It was written by researchers at the University of California San Francisco, led by Nathanael Gistand and Monica Gandhi.
